Privacy Policy
This detailed privacy policy is written in German (because our key market is Germany) and the legal framework for data protection is the German Federal Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG) and the German Telemedia Act (Telemediengesetz, TMG).

Klaus Lang (address see above) is responsible for data protection within the meaning of § 5 TMB.
The legal basis for data protection can be found in the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the Telemedia Act (TMG).
Access data/server log files
LANG (or its web space provider) collects data about every access to the website (so-called server log files). The access data includes:
Name of the website accessed, file, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, notification of successful access, browser type and version, the user’s operating system, referrer URL (the previously visited page), IP address, and the requesting provider.
LANG uses the log data only for statistical evaluations for the purpose of operating, securing, and optimizing the website. However, LANG reserves the right to check the log data retrospectively if there are concrete indications of justified suspicion of illegal use.
Handling of personal data
Personal data is information that can be used to identify a person, i.e., information that can be traced back to a person. This includes the name, email address, or telephone number. However, data about gender, date of birth, age, preferences, complaints, hobbies, memberships, or which websites have been viewed by someone also counts as personal data.
Personal data is only collected, used, and passed on by LANG if this is permitted by law or if the users consent to the collection of data.
Contact
When contacting LANG (for example, via the contact form or email), the user’s details are stored for the purpose of processing the inquiry and in case follow-up questions arise.
Comments and posts
When users leave comments on the blog or other posts, their IP addresses are stored. This is done for the security of LANG in case someone writes illegal content in comments and posts (insults, prohibited political propaganda, etc.). In this case, LANG itself can be prosecuted for the comment or post and is therefore interested in the identity of the author.
Comment subscriptions
Users can subscribe to follow-up comments. Users receive a confirmation email to verify that they are the owner of the email address they entered. Users can unsubscribe from ongoing comment subscriptions at any time. The confirmation email will contain instructions on how to do this.
Newsletter
We use the newsletter to inform you about us and our offers.
If you would like to receive the newsletter, we need a valid email address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the email address provided or that the owner agrees to receive the newsletter. No further data is collected. This data is used only for sending the newsletter and is not passed on to third parties.
When you register for the newsletter, we store your IP address and the date of registration. This storage serves solely as proof in the event that a third party misuses an email address and registers to receive the newsletter without the knowledge of the authorized person.
You can revoke your consent to the storage of data, the email address, and its use for sending the newsletter at any time. You can revoke your consent via a link in the newsletters themselves, in your profile area, or by sending a message to the contact options above.
Integration of third-party services and content
It may happen that third-party content, such as videos from YouTube, map material from Google Maps, RSS feeds, or graphics from other websites, is integrated into this online offering.
This always requires that the providers of this content (hereinafter referred to as “third-party providers”) perceive the IP address of the users. Without the IP address, they would not be able to send the content to the browser of the respective user. The IP address is therefore necessary for the display of this content. We endeavor to use only content whose respective providers use the IP address solely for the delivery of the content. However, we have no influence on whether third-party providers store the IP address for statistical purposes, for example. As far as we are aware of this, we inform users about it.
Cookies
Cookies are small files that enable specific information relating to the device to be stored on the user’s access device (PC, smartphone, etc.). On the one hand, they serve to improve the user-friendliness of websites and thus benefit users (e.g., storage of login data). On the other hand, they serve to collect statistical data on website usage and analyze it for the purpose of improving the website. Users can influence the use of cookies. Most browsers have an option that restricts or completely prevents the storage of cookies. However, please note that the use and, in particular, the ease of use of the website will be restricted without cookies.
You can manage many online advertising cookies from companies via the US website http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or the EU website http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/.
Google Analytics
LANG uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies,” which are text files placed on users’ computers to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about users’ use of this website is usually transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.
However, if IP anonymization is activated on this website, the IP address of users within member states of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area will be truncated beforehand. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. IP anonymization is active on this website. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate the use of the website by users, to compile reports on website activity, and to provide other services related to website activity and internet usage to the website operator.
The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. Users can prevent the storage of cookies by adjusting their browser software settings accordingly; however, LANG points out to users that in this case they may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent. Users can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and relating to their use of the website (including their IP address) and from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.
For more information on Google’s use of data for advertising purposes, settings, and opt-out options, please visit Google’s websites: https://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/partners/ (“How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps”), http://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads (“Data use for advertising purposes”), http://www.google.de/settings/ads (“Manage information that Google uses to show you ads”) and http://www.google.com/ads/preferences/ (“Determine which ads Google shows you”).
As an alternative to the browser add-on or within browsers on mobile devices, please click this link to prevent Google Analytics from collecting data on this website in the future. An opt-out cookie will be stored on your device. If you delete your cookies, you will need to click this link again.
Google Ads
LANG uses Google Ads, an advertising tool from Google Inc. in combination with the “Conversion Tracking” evaluation program from Google (“Google”). When a user accesses the LANG website via a Google ad, a cookie is stored on the user’s computer, enabling an analysis of their use of the website. These cookies usually lose their effect/expire after 30 days and cannot be used to identify the user. The information generated by the cookie about the use of this website by users is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there and serves to identify that the user was redirected to the LANG website from a Google ad. These cookies are used to evaluate advertising effectiveness and for statistical purposes.
Cookies can be blocked by generally deactivating cookies in your browser.
Please also note the Google Analytics privacy policy.
For more information about Google’s use of data via Google Adwords, please visit the Google website: https://ads.google.com/home/?subid=ww-ww-et-g-aw-a-about_products_1-redlmo2!
Google reCAPTCHA
We use the Google service reCaptcha to determine whether a human or a computer is making a particular entry in our contact or newsletter form. Google uses the following data to check whether you are a human or a computer: IP address of the device used, the website you are visiting and on which the captcha is integrated, the date and duration of the visit, the identification data of the browser and operating system type used, Google account if you are logged in to Google, mouse movements on the reCaptcha areas, and tasks in which you must identify images. The legal basis for the data processing described is Art. 6 (1) lit. f of the General Data Protection Regulation. We have a legitimate interest in this data processing in order to ensure the security of our website and to protect ourselves from automated entries (attacks).
Use of social media plugins/components
LANG uses social plugins (“plugins”) from the social network facebook.com, which is operated by Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”). The plugins can be recognized by one of the Facebook logos (white “f” on a blue tile, the terms “Like,” “I like it,” or a “thumbs up” sign) or are marked with the addition “Facebook Social Plugin.” The list and appearance of Facebook social plugins can be viewed here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/.
When a user visits a LANG website that contains such a plugin, their browser establishes a direct connection to Facebook’s servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted directly from Facebook to your browser and integrated into the website. LANG therefore has no influence on the scope of data that Facebook collects with the help of this plugin and therefore informs users according to its state of knowledge:
By integrating the plugins, Facebook receives the information that a user has accessed the corresponding page of LANG. If the user is logged in to Facebook, Facebook can assign the visit to their Facebook account. When users interact with the plugins, for example by clicking the Like button or posting a comment, the corresponding information is transmitted directly from your browser to Facebook and stored there. If a user is not a member of Facebook, it is still possible for Facebook to find out and store their IP address. According to Facebook, only an anonymized IP address is stored in Germany.
The purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Facebook, as well as the relevant rights and setting options for protecting the privacy of users, can be found in Facebook’s privacy policy: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.
If a user is a Facebook member and does not want Facebook to collect data about them via this offer and link it to their membership data stored on Facebook, they must log out of Facebook before visiting the website. Further settings and objections to the use of data for advertising purposes are possible within the Facebook profile settings: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads.
X (formerly Twitter)
LANG uses the buttons of the X (formerly Twitter) service. These buttons are provided by X Corp., 1355 Market Street, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA. Twitter International Company, One Cumberland Place, Fenian Street, Dublin 2 D02 AX07, Ireland, is responsible for data processing for people living outside the United States. They are recognizable by terms such as “X,” “Twitter,” or “Follow,” sometimes also associated with a stylized bird logo. With the help of the buttons, it is possible to share a post or page from this website on Twitter or to follow the provider on Twitter.
We would like to point out that you use the X short message service offered here and its functions at your own responsibility. This applies in particular to the use of interactive functions (e.g., sharing, rating).
When a user visits a LANG website that contains such a button, their browser establishes a direct connection to the X servers. The content of the X buttons is transmitted directly from X to the user’s browser. LANG therefore has no influence on the scope of the data that X collects with the help of this plugin and informs users according to its level of knowledge. According to this, only the user’s IP address and the URL of the respective website are transmitted when the button is accessed, but not used for any purpose other than displaying the button.
Further information on this can be found in X’s privacy policy at https://twitter.com/de/privacy .
YouTube
LANG uses plugins from YouTube, which is operated by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States (“Google”).
When a user visits a LANG website that is equipped with a YouTube plugin, a connection to the YouTube servers is established. The YouTube server receives information about which specific LANG website has been accessed. If the user is logged in to their YouTube account, YouTube has the option of assigning the user’s surfing behavior directly to their personal profile.
If you as a user do not want YouTube to collect such information about you, you must log out of YouTube before visiting the LANG website. LANG therefore has no influence on the amount of data that YouTube collects with the help of this plugin.
The purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Google, as well as your rights in this regard and setting options for protecting your privacy, can be found in Google’s privacy policy for YouTube: https://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/
LANG uses plugins from the Instagram network, which is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304 United States (“Instagram”).
When a user visits a LANG website and clicks on the “Instagram” button, Instagram receives the information that the user has visited the corresponding LANG website, along with their IP address. If the user is logged into their Instagram account, Instagram also has the option of assigning the user’s surfing behavior directly to their personal profile.
If you, as a user, do not want Instagram to collect such information about you, you must log out of Instagram before visiting the LANG websites.
LANG therefore has no influence on the scope of the data that Pinterest collects with the help of this plugin and how this data is further processed.
The purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Instagram, as well as your rights in this regard and setting options for protecting your privacy, can be found in Pinterest’s privacy policy: https://help.instagram.com/155833707900388
Links to other websites
LANG’s online offering contains links to other websites. This privacy policy only applies to the websites www.klaus-lang.de and www.klaus-lang.eu, and not to other providers. LANG has no influence on whether their operators comply with data protection regulations and therefore accepts no responsibility for the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of the information provided there.
Revocation, changes, corrections, and updates
The user has the right to request information free of charge about the personal data stored about them. In addition, the user has the right to correct incorrect data, block, and delete their personal data, provided that there is no legal obligation to retain it.
